A full Provincial Team joined Sackville Lodge’s sesquicentennial celebrations and took part by dedicating a new Volume of Sacred Law.
The Provincial Grand Master, Neil Austin, was accompanied by Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Tony Flint, and three Assistant Provincial Grand Masters.
Provincial Grand Chaplain, Rev. Stephen Terry, gave an eloquent talk about the significance of VSLs in Freemasonry and the need to always read them with cautious interpretation in the context of the time that they were written.
Together with the Provincial Grand Wardens, and under the direction of Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies. John Heal, the PGM dedicated the VSL and set it in place on the Worshipful Master’s pedestal.
Members of Sackville Lodge read the minutes of meeting held 50, 100 and 150 years ago, and the Worshipful Master talked about the history of the Lodge and of the East Grinstead Masonic Centre.
Both the temple and the dining room were full to their respective rafters with 60+ masons thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Neil Austin reminded those present that 150 years is an exceptional length of time for a lodge to sustain an active membership. He paid tribute the members, past and present, whose dedication has brought Sackville Lodge to this milestone.
